Stourton Caundle Golf Society Monthly Report – July 2023

A chance to practice for a few this morning on the last game before our big outing in a weeks time. It was sunny, but with the promise of sharp showers (which we actually avoided by about 3 minutes luckily). As it was a social gathering rather than high stakes competition, it was choose your own groups, and whilst there were winners and losers, no changes in handicaps. We played the front 9 holes, conditions were blustery but fair, and the ground firm and surprisingly dry after the rain we’ve had through the week. There were even a few new faces, who will hopefully join us again.

Joint winners with 16 points, congrats to Marty Stone and Tom Conduit. Honours are shared until next month.

Our team winners were team Slow Play (with galloping Pete Hallam? Really?), with 34 points. Congrats to Pete Hallam, Neil Duke, Lawrie Yandell & Keith Lindsay (not pictured)

The Des Austin Challenge was won by another newby, Ollie Butt. He and Jake Goodfellow were slugging it out for lowest score, but Ollie just held on recording just 2 points. He’s happy though, an award and he knows that he paid literally pennies for every shot he took today.
