Stourton Caundle Golf Society Monthly Report – October 2022
Just of late, the sun keeps shining on us. Another gorgeous day. The colours of autumn starting to come out, and a classic car show to distract us as well. We played an old favourite this month, the 2 club challenge. All players went out with just a 7 iron and putter, and had to make the best of it. We also just played the shorter version of each hole. As ever, to confound our combined skills and brains, the scores are all roughly where they would be usually. Stupid game. The Des Austin Challenge was set as the ‘stupidest contribution to proceedings’

Joint winners this month with 16 points each, proof if it were needed that we should not carry a full set of clubs. Well done to Jim Ackland and Pete Blundell. The honours for a month and a 2 point cut are your rewards.

Team winners were Team Presidente, with 36 points. Well done to Ben Pattle, Terry Taylor, Simon Price and Brian Pattle

The Des Austen challenge was won by Rob Mitchell. We all know he has the most yip on the golf course, but he surpassed himself by having the temerity, the cheek and the nerve to comment on the hole speed of our illustrious President. We wonder if he’ll be playing as quick when he reaches Terrys years. More outbursts like that and he may not reach that age at all!
