Couples Day – August 2021
Stourton Caundle Golf Society Couples Day – 22nd August 2021
After missing out on the Couples Day in 2020, the ladies were all very eager (?) to get back into the swing of things in 2021, and even though we had to delay a few extra months, it was worth it, and a very enjoyable day it was. The weather was with us, cloudy to start, but blossoming into a beautiful warm summer’s day. After a small mishap with the catering arrangements, instead of the usual BBQ, everyone brought a picnic, and it seemed to make the event even better. Groups were pre-determined, and with the ladies amongst friends, and supplied with some cocktails in a can for the walk round nobody was taking things too seriously. Many enjoyed a drink out on the course, and all enjoyed a laugh. It was another chance for the partners to find out just how frustrating golf can be, and for players to combine their two loves of golf and family time.
The format was set that the ladies would tee off. The shot would not count if missed, but if the ball was hit, even if it was just 1 inch, it counted. The playing partners then took over until the ball was on the green, where the ladies then took back over until the ball was in the hole. There was added balance this year with the inclusion, at least in part, of the players society handicap.

The first group were:
Mr David & Miss Madeleine Conduit
Mr Tomas Conduit & Miss Georgie Moore
Mr Philip Bennett & Mrs Nina CVonduit
Mr Jeff & Mrs Ronni Winter

The second group were:
Mr Alban & Mrs Helen Harris
Mr Archie & Miss Jessica Harris
Mr Martyn & Mrs Jayne Stone
Mr Noah McIntyre & Miss Daisy Harris

The third group were:
Mr Matthew & Mrs Debs Wylie
Mr Roger Paull & Mrs Rachel Paull
Mr Dan Wylie & Mrs Sue Hamblin
Mr Jamie Wylie & Miss Eleni Hill

The fourth group were:
Mr Martin & Mrs Terri Rose
Mr Matt & Mrs Clare Litchfield
Mr Peter & Mr William Hallam

The fifth group were:
Mr Brian & Mr Ben Pattle
Mr Peter & Mrs Gay Liversidge
Mr Lawrence & Mrs Jane Yandell

The sixth group were:
Mr Martyn & Mrs Stephanie Bond
Mr Daryn & Mrs Becky Elford
Mr Joe Bond & Mr Charlie Elford
Accompanied by Miss Georgia Bond & Miss Annabelle Elford

The seventh group were:
Ms Shane & Mrs Ali Cherrington
Mr Simon & Mrs Sharyn Goodfellow
Mr Shaun & Mrs Clare Read
Once we were all in, the picnics were broken out and we all basked in the sunshine. Drinks were in hand, the food was done, and it was time for comments from our President, and the presentations.

Our clear winners, with a nett score of 51 shots, were Dan Wylie & Sue Hamblin. They shared a bottle of bubbly

Second place this year went to Alban & Helen Harris, with a nett 52 points. A fine bottle of wine for them to enjoy
Finally, and reflecting on Terry’s comments on the day, huge thanks go to Steve and all the Folke team, and to all the friends, partners and guests that joined us, for entering into the spirit of fun required, and enjoying the day for what it was.
